01Capabilities

Precision tools for demanding workflows

We develop technical software for precise workflows — from the idea to a production-ready application. For engineering firms in particular, we combine traceable calculations, optimized user interfaces, import and export of common file formats, and long-term maintainability.

Vector-native output

Pixel-perfect renders across web, mobile, and print — from a single source of truth. No rasterization artefacts, no duplicated pipelines.

Auditable calculations

Every formula in LaTeX, every intermediate result inspectable. Engineering output you can hand to an auditor and defend.

Accessible by default

EAA- and BaFG-compliant interfaces, usable by people, machines, and LLMs alike. Clarity for everyone, not a bolt-on feature.

02Our offer

Software that fits your needs

A notebook with a hand-drawn floor plan sits next to a tablet showing the same plan as an interactive SVG rendering.

SVG Rendering Engine

Our custom SVG rendering engine can draw parts, floor plans, and much more. As detailed as you need it to be, with or without measurements. Always pixel-perfect & scalable, exportable as PNG / PDF. Available on web & mobile, online & offline.

Traceable Calculations

For technical companies, we develop calculation tools that make complex formulas, intermediate results, and verification steps traceable. This allows structural engineers, planners, and manufacturers to review calculation results internally and explain them to clients or approval bodies. Our custom debugger can be used to investigate intermediate results during the calculation pipeline. For mission-critical calculations, this ensures that every formula is represented correctly and that your software exposes more than input forms: every calculation step remains traceable at all times.

Accessible & Optimized

All our technical software is accessible by default. This means we optimize for clarity, usability, and recognizability in everything we build. Not just for people who need it, but for everyone. In turn, even LLMs can interact with your tools better and more effectively. Our SVG exports are machine-readable and LLM-readable, and our apps adhere to UX best practices. Compliant with the European Accessibility Act and Austrian BaFG.

PDF Rendering Engine

PDF is the standard for printouts and professional documents. Our custom PDF generator can export anything that can be drawn. Our custom PDF viewer can be branded to fit your company's corporate design guidelines. Vector graphics are embedded natively, so your PDFs will always be sharp, crisp, and professional.

KLHdesigner shows what custom engineering software can look like when existing domain knowledge is not thrown away, but translated into a maintainable long-term platform. The starting point was an established engineering tool for KLH® CLT elements. It already contained valuable material data and proven workflows, but as a desktop application it was limited in data maintenance, performance, distribution, and cross-platform use.

Together with KLH Massivholz GmbH and Omnity e.U., the tool evolved through several development phases into a software ecosystem: data+ for centralized product data and technical information, statics2d for guided structural design workflows with templates, load cases, traceable results, and PDF reports, and co2 for life-cycle and CO₂ assessments. Existing Excel-like workflows and calculation logic were not blindly rebuilt. They were structured, modernized, and made available across web, desktop, and mobile contexts.

The case study is especially relevant for companies that want to build calculation tools, maintain technical data, generate SVG/PDF output, or modernize legacy engineering software. It shows that successful engineering software does not start with screens alone. The important parts are clean data models, traceable formulas, understandable reports, reliable update processes, and an interface that supports specialists in their everyday work. That is the kind of technical workflow we develop at Acurion: practical, maintainable, and grounded in real engineering practice.

04Answers

Common questions about custom engineering software.

How much does custom engineering software cost?
It depends on scope, risk, and integrations. A small modernization project or prototype is very different from a platform with multiple apps, user roles, PDF reports, and calculation logic. The useful first step is a short analysis: which workflows, formulas, data sources, and outputs actually need to be covered? As an orientation, we maintain a separate pricing page with typical packages and ballpark estimates.
Can existing Excel tools be modernized?
Yes. Mature Excel tools often contain valuable engineering knowledge, but they are difficult to maintain, test, and distribute. We analyze the existing logic, preserve the relevant formulas and workflows, and transfer them into a robust web application with better usability, versioning, and data maintenance. The KLHdesigner case study shows how Excel-like structural design workflows were moved into a maintainable platform.
Do you develop calculation tools with traceable formulas?
Yes. In technical software, it must be clear how a result was produced. We can display formulas, make intermediate values inspectable, document calculation steps, and structure outputs so engineers, clients, or auditors can review and trust the results. KLHdesigner is a concrete example.
Can technical reports be generated automatically as PDFs?
Yes. Technical reports, verifications, tables, graphics, and SVG-based illustrations can be generated automatically as PDFs. The output can match your corporate design and stays reproducible: same input, same calculation, same report. This is also part of the KLHdesigner case study.
Is the software BaFG/EAA-compliant?
We plan accessibility from the beginning. This includes clear interaction patterns, keyboard navigation, sufficient contrast, screen-reader-friendly structures, and testing against relevant WCAG requirements. This is cleaner and cheaper than retrofitting accessibility at the end.
Why use engineering software instead of Excel?
Excel is optimized for a wide variety of use cases and can therefore only be generic. Custom engineering software developed specifically for your company, on the other hand, is optimized for your workflows. This also enables seamless integration into advanced AI platforms.
